UNFOLDING Name or invent your talisman. Send it on to a journey. Develop a flying object for your talisman and integrate a safe place for it. For the flying object you will use a A1 sheet of white cardboard and a A1-sheet of white paper. Build it without using any adhesives.
HOUSE FAVORITE Now, finally you can build your favourite space! Keep within an outline of 18x24x 54cm and build the cornerpoints in such a way that further favourite spaces can be stacked. Leave a central transverse passage open (12x9cm) and create lengthwise a possibility to look through. For the presentation we will join all your favourite spaces and form ‘House Favourite‘. Describe the idea of your favourite space with three sentences.
THING Choose an object of daily use out of your surrounding. Then set a sequence of sections through this object. This dis section will show the structures and charac teristics of the object and it will point out beyond the outside shape. We will gather information about its borders. At the same time the sequence can be used for the interpretation of a spatial constellation, which we can read and pass as in a motion.
NOTATION Visit the foyer of a public building. Observe the space and its events. Make notations of your impressions. It can be the survey of the geometrical and physical constellation, of atmospheric qualities and deficits, it can be the mapping of acting humans, of rituals and events. In a next step you will edit what you think to be substantial into a subjective map. The map is a medium of ascertainment, a strategy of appropriation. Develop precise forms of representation.
NARRATIVE For the scenery in the dining hall of the Grand Hotel Balbec – as described by Marcel Proust in „In Search of Lost Time“- you will design a space, that invites or even provokes the events and appearances described. The spatial relations of the hall to both the interior of the Grand Hotel and to the surrounding landscape should be considered.
PLEASURE GARDEN For the Contemporary Art Festival „Rohkunstbau“ at the watercastle Gross-Leuthen you will develop a space to relax. Position your space & think about specific relations to the landscape. Select a building material. Develop an object, that is either durable during the whole festival or that is dismantlable & reconstructable. Find ways to realize the project within one week.
SUPERMARKETS are places of exchange, where a maximum of goods meets maximum of consumers. Examine, how an architecture, that relates to the urban setting can be made compatible with the Corporate Design. Investigate, how a functional diagram perfected by market-research can be questioned and radicalized by your project. Discuss, how a wide open space can be architecturally charged – consider its light, its materiality and its structure.
TWIST Build a space determined by twelve coordinates with a structure of beams, slabs or chambers. Invent your own rules. Pay attention to the joints of the elements. Cover the space with a skin and consider its seams. Do only use one material for the loadbearing elements and one for the skin. Determine, how spatial relations are created, both within the space itself and between inside and outside. Take care that the body is able to stand on one of its faces, so keep your equilibrium in mind.
FISCHERINSEL On the Fischerinsel, an island influenced by the historical center, the river Spree and the ensemble of residential tower-blocks, you will work on urban hou sing. Develop a building type, that allows new forms of urban habita tion. Examine the relevance of sustain ability; of potentially using the house for other functions. Explore your design in its characteristic elements: wall, opening, roof and transition to the ground.
HOUSE FOR A COLLECTION In Berlin, Genova, Torino or Milan you design an urban house for a collection. Formulate topic and program. Develop an architectural idea. Select one of the four sites, depending on your collection and your architectural concept. Examine what are the constituent elements of the site. Confront the thesis you have set up with the selected site.
VALUE LICHTENBERG This is both a No-Go-place and a centre & hub at the same time. Traffic dominates inhabitancy. We ask, if it is an unsolvable conflict or a potential between local & transistory needs; this simultaneity is our field of research. 1 We author a report both surprising and plausible; a both realistic and radical evaluation of what is possible. 2 A proposal for the appropriation of space tries to cease the current state of uncertainty. It improves the existing and generates publicity. 3 We develop spaces, that generate density & publicity. They should offer potentials of use without fixing them. Impulses shift between house & site, charging the urban field.

HOTEL NO.WHERE NOW.HERE Landscape photography succeeds in exploring the sublime in the ordinary, finding harmony in banal, even desolate places. You will re-construct one of the represented spaces by means of a model; decide, what you think to be essential for its character and configuration. You will then design a hotel for the ‘site’. Hotels appear to be a world on their own and are familiar whereever we go. The traveller finds himself at the transition from a complex building to a concrete, tangible and tempered place. Think about the relation and develop a program that charges both hotel and site.
